Trinity Preschool Activities for Wednesday, April 6, 2011
Willow Room: MWF class
We read "Waiting for Wings" by Lois Ehlert A butterfly story.
We also asked the children if they had the letter P in their name and made a comparison of how many yes and no answers.
We painted using stampers and bug shape tempra paint. We had stencils and markers at the easel.
We sang Sticky, sticky bubble gum, list of dances, and If you're happy and you know it, your face will surely show it!
We had scissors at the free art table. We measured our caterpillars which grew again and we also looked at some objects that start witht he letter P.
Maple Room:
We read Butterfly, Butterfly.
We used eyedroppers and glitter paint on one side of a folded piece of paper and then “smooshed” it together to make wings for our caterpillars which will soon turn into butterflies.( introduced the concept of symmetry) SEE PICTURE ABOVE
We had Butterfly shapes with paint at the easel.
We played a color recognition game and letter V activities at second circle.
We used the parachute in the gym.
For music we did "The April song" , "Months of the year song", "Stomp, Stomp Clap", "Freeze Dance" with ribbons and some other ribbon dancing songs.
Oak Room:
We read "Fish is Fish" by Leo Leonni
We worked in our journals on pictures and words that start with the letter "Z".
We had some fish activity cards out, a fish puzzle, sea animals puzzles, and letter a Z puzzle.
We sang 5 little fish swimming in the sea ( each child had small fish shape "counters" to act out the rhyme. Each time a fish didn't come back, we removed one from our "sea" until they were all gone.
We played in the gym with the parachute.
We also had an animal classification sorting game out.
