We played in the gym today since it was raining outside. We had the trikes, a bean bag tossing game, the crawl through tunnel and some hop on bouncers for the children to play with.
Willow Room:
We read "The umbrella Day" by Nancy Evans Cooney. It is a story about a rainy day like today and a little girls umbrella adventure; pretending her umbrella is many other things, like a toadstool and a boat.
We asked the children "What do you like to do on a rainy day?"
We painted using "Flip flop painters". They are shaped like flip flop shoes, but we put them on our hands and pressed them onto the paper to paint.
We put the stencils at the easel again since the children really enjoyed it on Wednesday.
We sang "Hello everybody", "Pirate song", and "Cool bear hunt"
We made a letter chart of words that start with the letter "P". WE also measured our caterpillars and they are getting so much longer and fatter.
Maple Room:
We read "Waiting for Wings" by Lois Ehlert
We cut out butterfly wings. We had butterfly shapes at the easel with tissue paper.
We sang "The April song, and Old McDonald had a band"
We practiced writing our letters.
Oak Room:
We read "Swimmy" by Leo Lionni
Our teacher cut a fish shape out of a potato, we used it to make a print of fish to illustrate our story. We had a blue background and we made fish prints all over it to look like the little fish that got together to make it look like they were one big fish.
We had out the letter Z puzzle, magnetic flower designer, and a classification chart.
We used rhythm sticks to take a pretend boat ride to music. We used them like oars, to paddle the boat, we made them into triangles over our heads to be a sail for a sailboat.
