Trinity Preschool Activities for Monday, May 9, 2011
We played in the playground today for our large motor time.
Maple Room-
We are talking about rainbows and read a book called "What makes a rainbow?" by Betty Ann Schwartz and for art we made "Smear Rainbows" by placing paint on paper, covering it with wax paper and then children rubbed it to make the colors smear together. A fun, no mess project. We saved both the wax paper and the paper with their painting on it.
We had small squares of colored paper and glue at the easel to make rainbows.
We sang the May song, and the alphabet letter sounds song.
We listened to "curious George flies a kite" on a recorded book. We did some letter "Z" activities.
Willow Room: MWF room:
We read "The giant carrot story" We asked the children if they have a letter "U" in their name?
We did a 5 little kites song and "Here is the beehive" finger play
We used finger stampers at the table for art. At the easel we painted with a carrot, using red and yellow paint (made orange)
We have a flower shop in our sensory table. We have a pretend BBQ in our dramatic corner.
Oak room:
We read "Mortimer's First Garden by Karma Wilson and "Flower Garden" by Kathryn Hewitt
We cut out paper sun flower and added them to a stem. We planted sunflower seeds in a cup and will watch them grow. Then the children can take them home and plant them. Sun flowers get several feet tall when planted in full sun. We added our cut out sunflowers to our planters.
We did "How many ants in a blanket?, lady bug, lady bug, and two little butterflies
We did a what rhymes photo cards game, about which words rhyme.
