Oak Room- 5 day pre-k class
We read "Popcorn" by Frank Asch today and we read "Arthur's nose" by Marc Brown
We are learning about the 5 senses and we are learning about our sense of smell today.
(Could you smell the popcorn when you walked in the building?)
We glued real colored popcorn onto a popcorn shaped bag.
We did 5 little popcorn kernels in a pan", and "Bear Hunt" for music today.
We popped popcorn in a large tub to play with during choice time today. We all sat in a big circle around it and watched it pop. We took the top off the air popper and it shot in the air. We got to use cups, and scoops to play with it.
Of course we had some popcorn at snack.
Maple Room- MWF class
We read "Applesauce Season" by Eden Ross Lipson
We made applesauce with the apples the children brought in to school.
We had apple stencils and roller brushes at the easel.
We sorted the apples by color, we did a taste test to see what we liked best. We measured our apples using number cubes. We talked about what we know about apples.
We did the "September song", "Way up high int he apple tree" and A-P-P-L-E (sung to the tune of Bingo).
Willow Room- MWF class
We read "The little mouse and the big red apple" by A.H. Benjamin
We scrunched up pieces of tissue paper and glued them onto an apple shape. (This is a good fine motor activity- to scrunch the paper with their fingers).
At the easel, we had dry erase markers.
We are having fun with the water table, today we added a new element, soap.
We talked about germs today and how they spread. We demonstrated by using glitter. We put glitter on one person's hand and they touched someone else and now that person had glitter on their hands - this showed how our germs from our hands can spread so easily.
We did "the apple tree" a felt board rhyme
"Hello everybody, yes indeed" Carole Peterson Hum CD
"The sneezing song" Jim Gill CD
Stay & Play
We read "The very busy day" by Diana Hendry
We put fun flip flop painters (with designs on the bottom) on our hands and painted pictures.
We did "5 little ducks", "If you are happy and you know it" and "the freeze dance" with ribbons today for music time.
