Oak Room- Pre- K 5 day class
We looked at a giant sunflower that our teacher brought in today. We took pictures with it too.
We looked at a fresh pineapple and then ate it for snack.
We read "If you give a dog a donut" by Laura Numeroff today. We also did an activity where we asked the children a story starter to encourage them to think of an extension...
If you give a snake a ....
If you give a puppy a.....
If you give a turtle a....
If you give a bear a ......
some of the answers were :
an apple, he'll want a cupcake
cake, he will want milk
a cup cake, he will want pizza
a donut, he'll want milk
a bone, he'll want water
ice cream, he'll want to eat a muffin
This is a great activity in the car, or when you read a story to ask what they think will happen , or what will happen next. Encourage your child to think about the possibilities and outlandish is fun.
We did crayon resist names for art. We wrote the children's names in white crayon on white paper and then gave them water colors to paint over it with. The crayon resists the paint, so it shows up. Then the children could draw their own picture with white crayon before painting over it with watercolors. They loved it.
We did a group time activity of thinking of words that start with the letter A.
We did "Underneath the broomstick" and "Sally the swinging snake" using scarves for our music time.
