Trinity Preschool Activities for Friday, April 27, 2012 paper bag birds nests

Willow Room- paper bag birds nests with birds

Willow Room:

We read "The best nest" by P.D. Eastman this is one of our favorite stories about a Mother bird looking for the best nest and why each place is not the best.  We made the cute birds nests in the picture, we took paper lunch bags and squished them down.  Then we added some straw, crinkled paper and the bird we made out of cut of paper towel tubes, google eyes and a fun foam shape for the beak.  Each one is unique and adorable.

We asked the children if they have the letter V in their name?

We had dry erase markers and stencils at the easel.

We practiced our Mother's Day songs.

Maple Room:

We read "The most beautiful kite i the world" by Andrea Spalding

We used flip flop painters to make prints on kite shapes.  We had kite shapes at the easel too with paint.

We had new water funnels and tubes and marbles in the water table today with water.

We did the April song, we sang "Let's go fly a kite" and we danced with scarves, and also did My kites and used scarves.

We did Letter Y practice on the dry erase boards, we did some cute kite rhymes and read "The big red kite" by Jan Berenstain

We flew some kites on the playground, we added streamers to a plastic bag and tied string to the handles (this one worked best!), we flew kites we made and paper bag kites.

Oak Room:

We read "Pout Pout Fish" by Deborah Diesen

We made flower pictures today.  We cut cardboard tubes with slits about 1 inch long and at various widths, then we flattened it out so we could dip it in paint.    The result is a flower design.  Then the children used markers and pom poms to embellish their art. we used Q-tips dipped in paint to add stems and leaves.

We had moist sand in room, hidden objects in rice, and we changed our dramatic play to a flower shop.

We practiced our Mother's Day songs.

We did a graph of how did you get to school today? car, bus, walk, taxi, , bicycle?

Stay & Play:
We read The little Green Pea by Alison Barber

We did some gluing of  fun foam pieces onto paper.

We did "Fun to get fit song", and The body part game for music.

We had a new ball throwing game and we bopped around balloons with the special rackets made from paper plates and paint sticks.
