Willow Room- MWF class

We sang Brown Bear, Tommy Thumb, and List of dances

We started our letter of the day today. We asked "Do you have the letter "A" in your name? Then we thought of other words which begin with the letter "A".

Maple Room:

We read "The snowy day" by Ezra Jack Keats.
We used ice cubes made out of water colors to paint pictures. they are hanging in the halls.
We had snowflake shapes with glitter paint.

We sang the January song, winter song, list of dances, pass the snowball, and Today is...

We introduced "The estimating jar" The children will guess (or estimate) how many of something is in the jar. Later we count how many are in there to see who guessed the closest. As time goes by, the children become better and better at estimating. Today we estimated how many snowflakes.

We also are doing an experiment called grow a snowflake. We put a small snowflake sponge in water and each day it will grow, we will measure it each day to see how much it grows.

Oak Room:

We read "One Winter's Day" by M Christina Butler

We are talking about hibernation.

We worked on letter "N" pictures in our journal

We have out number pegs, bead stringing, and key sorting

We sang the list of dances, and a song from our song bank

We read a book about the letter N and we asked if their names had an N in it.
