NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2011 or Monday, OCTOBER 10, 2011
We had a practice fire drill today- the children did a great job listening, follow directions and leaving the building safely. October is Fire Safety month, we will be having a visit by one of the Firemen from Mt. Prospect later in the month. Set up a fire safety plan at home.
We played outside in the playground today- it was beautiful outside!
Stay & Play:
We read "Where the wild things are" by Maurice Sendek
We painted pictures using cornstarch, vinegar and watercolors to make colorful pictures.
We sang March around the alphabet with letters, and Sticky Bubble Gum
We worked on a BIG Farm floor puzzle.
We loved the warm weather to play outside today. we spent extra time outside.
Willow Room: MWF class
We are talking about fall and apples! We asked the children "Which color apple do you like best?"
We read "Ten apples up on top" by Theo Leseig
We did a counting rhyme called "Mr. Appleworm"
For art today, we crunched tissue paper into small bunches and glued the pieces onto an apple shape.
We had magnetic gears at the easel.
We sang "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "Put your finger on..."
We have fun purple sand in the sensory table.
Maple Room: MWF class
We read "There was an old lady who swallowed some leaves" by Lucille Colandro
We used eye droppers and two colors of liquid water colors (They had a choice of red, yellow and blue). We dripped the color onto paper towels that we will use for a project.
We had leaf shapes and paint at the easel.
We sang "The October song," "Down around the corner @ the pumpkin patch", " Brown Bear"
We played a shape recognition game, "find the bird"
We did some letter "A" activities and we took the children out of the room in small groups to play a game.
Oak Room: Pre- K class
We are still talking about sense of touch
Hand, Hand, Finger, Thumb by Al Perkins was our story
We read a "D" book for learning about our letter D
We worked in our journals today and at the easel we had sand mixed into paint for texture.
We had 3 letter word puzzles
Farm animal sorting
Texture puzzles
We sang "5 senses song" and "The finger band"
We used a feely box- guess what is inside using your sense of touch.
