We painted a big Hershey kiss shape with whisks.
We did "Skinnamarink, Pass the Valentine Heart, and HEART (tune of BINGO)
We did a Valentine's rhyme- tune of 5 little ducks, called 5 little Valentines.
We frosted special heart shape cookies at snack for Valentine's day.
Maple Room:
We read "The doorbell rang" by Pat Hutchins
We had paint at the easel with heart shape paper.
We did the chicken dance, and tommy thumb for music time
We practiced writing our names, we did a shape sorting activity and we acted out the story The doorbell rang using Valentine cookies.
We played a game in the gym called "Take the stuff" We broke up into 3 groups and went to three different parts of the gym. We had a bunch of "stuff" in the middle in a hula hoop. Each group got a turn having one person walk to the middle, get one thing and take it back to their corner. When it was all done, we counted up how many we each had.
Oak Room- Pre- K class
We read "Library Mouse- A museum Adventure" by Daniel Kirk and "Goldisocks and the three libearians by Jackie Mims Hopkins
We made pictures using dab a dot markers, we filled in a stencil shape with dots. We worked in our math books on one-one correspondence We put one dot in each square. The idea behind this is that some times children who can count, still do not understand the idea that the number 3 cooresponds with 3 actual items. It helps at home if you count things as you do them, not just count. So as you set the table, say one spoon for Sally, one spoon for mommy, one spoon for daddy, one spoon for Billy, so we need 4 spoons.
We had out little legos, bead stringing on pipe cleaners to make a heart shape, the letter T puzzle.
We asked the children "Does your name have the letter T in it? We did an experiment, we put water in a cup up to a line on the cup. We will eave it out and see what happens to the water. Evaporation.
We did two little blackbirds, tea for two, and you've got to sing for music time.
