Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone.
Willow Room- MWF class
We read "The dot" by Peter H Reynolds
We also had a sharing time talking about what the children did over the holidays. Everyone had a chance to share.
For art today, we dipped our paint brush in water and then into dry paint. We created beautiful masterpieces.
At the easel we had colored pencils and stencils.
We did the teddy bear, teddy bear rhyme, put your finger in the air, and little fish for music time.
We brought in new manipulative toys to use at our tables.
We also played with modeling clay instead of playdough- this is great as it has a different consistency, works our fine motor muscles in our fingers (which helps later with writing) and is fun.
Maple Room- Morning class
We read "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, what do you hear?" by Bill Martin
We did string painting to make a classroom book.
We had watercolors at the easel.
We did "I can make a snowman", "The freeze dance", "Chubby little snowman" and "animal action" for music time.
We did letter L activities and have a writing center set up in our room.
Maple Room- afternoon class
We read "I love snow" by Hans Wilhelm. We also read "Snowman" by Tony Mitton
We painted on white paper with glitter paint. We had watercolors at the easel.
We did "Ten in the bed", "Going on a bear hunt", "hands are for clapping" and we did Miss Mary Mack a song and book on a CD.
We brought in some marble tracks and some ramps that we used with marbles.
Oak Room- Pre- K class
We read "A little bit of winter" by Paul Stewart
We are learning about animals that hibernate in the winter.
For art, the children painted paper plates brown. Then they added eyes and a nose to make them look like a bear. We will put them on the bulletin board in our cave.
We did "Ten in the bed", "going on a bear hunt". "Hands are for clapping" for music today.
We are learning about the letter O this week.
Stay & Play:
We read "Penguin and the cupcake" by Ashley Spires
For art, we did stamper designs on paper. Then we used markers to make a picture or color in the design.
We did "Underneath the broomstick", ABC musical match - upper and lower case letters
