It was a cool, windy day, but we got to play on our playground today. Please remember to keep an eye on the weather and dress your child accordingly. The weather is changing and the mornings can be quite cool before it warms up. Please send a jacket or sweatshirt in the morning.
Willow Room- MWF class
We read "My preschool" by Anne Rockwell
We asked "What is your favorite thing to do at school?"
We painted our own hands with a paint brush, then made prints all over the paper.

We did "Hands are for clapping" "Put your hands in the air" and "Tommy Thumb" for music today.
We had water play at our sensory table- we also added some watercolor paint to our water to make it look bluish/green. It was filled with fun water toys.

We read "The apple pie tree" by Zoe Hall
We used corks to paint "apples" with red and yellow paint onto tree shape paper.
We had apple shapes at the easels and watercolor paints.
We did "The September song", "Alphabet sounds song, and "Pass the apple (Like hot potato)
We did a shape recognition game called "Find the bird"

We made apple prints with real apples. We pressed the cut in half apple into paint and then onto paper to make a print.
We painted with textured stampers at the easel.
We did "Wheels on the bus"- with a flannel board, "Five little monekys" ( using a puppet mitt), "Way up high in the apple tree"- a counting rhyme, we danced the freeze dance using scarves. We also did the "pirate song", and "brown bear" for music time today.
We listened to a book on tape of Old Mac Donald had a farm.
Oak Room- Pre- k class
We read "When I am feeling- sad, scared, happy, angry"
We worked in our journals, we wrote the letter B,b and we drew or traced a picture that started with that letter.
We did a happy - sad game at music time. Each child had a two sided face, one happy, one sad. We asked questions and they held up the face about how they would feel in that situation. Then we did "If you're happy and you know it"
We read a book about the letter B.
We did a science experiment today using milk and a little bit of food coloring. You put a little milk in a cup and without stirring, you add a small drop of food color near the edge. ( We added one color on one side and a different color on the other side- we will see what new color is made). Remember don't stir! The colors will "diffuse" into the milk and make it change color. We talk about scientific terms like "Observe" , "predict", and "outcome". The technical thing that is happening is that the molecules in both the milk and the food coloring are moving and they are different concentrations so it mixes itself, but since that is a little over their heads, so we talk more about understanding this is science and learning some terms.
We took the children out of the room in small groups and played educational games with them.
Stay & Play:
We read "I love you Blue Kangaroo" by Emma Clark
We "Painted" using rolling painters and then dipped chalk in water and drew on black paper.
We did "Hello everybody", "Please pass the peas" and "put your finger on" for music today.
