Trinity Preschool Activities for Friday, October 17, 2014

Maple Room- MWF class

We read "The Legend of Spookley and the Square Pumpkin"by Joe Troiana

We made tissue paper leaves fall wreath collages.

We had pumpkin shapes at the easel with paint and brushes.

We did The October song, leaves falling all around the town (tune of wheels on the bus), 5 pumpkins on a gate, and pumpkin n the straw for music.

We also read "Monsters love colors" by Mike Austin

We did a number activity with the numbers 1-10, find the airplane hiding behind the numbered cloud.

Oak Room- Pre- K class

We read "The fox and the falling leaves" by Julia Rawlinson

We painted on leaves and thenmade a print by pressing paper down on top of them.  We will put them all together to make a "fall quilt" for our classroom wall.

We did a 5 little leaves rhyme and we did some "bean bag challenges" to music.

We made a list of  words that begin with the letter F.

We practiced writing the letter F on dry erase boards.

Stay and Play:

We read "A mountain of friends" by Kerstin Schoene

We dripped water colors onto of a pile of shaving cream on a tray to make a rainbow effect.  The children either used a stirrer or their hands to mix it.

We did "She'll be coming around the mountain" and did actions to the song, and we did an ABC match game.  Press the buzzer after you match a lower and upper case letter.

Oak Room- Pre- K class

We read "Tap the Magic Tree" by Christie Matheson

We worked in our journal notebooks on words and pictures that begin with the letter F.

We did the Opposites song, and used actions and we also did an opposites matching activity, the children each had a card and had to find the child with the opposite card.

We did our letter F graph ( does your name have the letter F in it)

Willow Room- T/TH class

We read "The little Red Hen" by Paul Galdone
We asked the children today "Do you help cook or bake in the kitchen at home?"

We painted with funny brushes in fall colors.

We used rollers with designs on them to paint on a barn shape paper.

We did a 5 little apples rhyme

We did shoo fly, everybody clap your hands, and Old Mc Donald Had a farm for music today.

Maple Room- MWF class

"I spy with my little eye" by Edward Gibbs is the book we read today.  We painted on paper with a hole cut in the middle of it.  The children had to decided how to deal with a hole in their paper.

We did fingerpainting at the easel with red, yellow and blue paint.Tullet

We did the October song, and Scat the Cat for music time.

We also read the book "Press Here" by Herve

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "Apple Farmer Annie" by Monica Wellington, a book about apples.
We talked about what we can make out of apples.

We cut open 3 apples, big, medium and small, and counted how many seeds were in each apple.  The middle size apple had the most seeds.

We glued paper seeds onto an apple shape for art today.

We had paint at the easel with paint brushes today.

We also read the book "Tap the magic tree" by Christie Matheson

We made apple sauce today and will use it to make apple turnovers next week.  The children helped cut the apples into small pieces with plastic knives.

We did Wheels on the bus, driving here, driving there, ad Sammy for music today.

We looked at some potatoes and carrots that came straight from a farm and how dirty they are, and also looked at ones from the store.

Oak Room- Pre- K class
We read "Autumn's First Leaf" by Steve Metzger and also "There was an old lady who swallowed some leaves" by Lucille Colandro

We used an eye dropper to drip watercolors onto a paper towel.  We will cut them into leaf shapes to hang around the room.

We did our letter F mystery bag today of things that start with the letter F.

We did crayon rubbings with real leaves at the easel.

We did "sticky bubble gum" and "Brown Bear" for music today.

Stay and Play:

We read "Bringing down the moon" by Jonathan Emmett

We painted with Duplo Blocks dipped in paint

We did a shape game,  and tap your toe and follow me for music today.

Trinity Preschool Activities for Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Oak Room- Pre- K class

We read "The falling leaves and the scarecrow" by Steve Metzger and also by Steve Metzger, we read "We're going on a leaf hunt"

We painted on bubble wrap with fall colors, then we will make a print of it on yellow paper and cut it into shape like corn.  The children cut out the leaves for the corn too.  We will use it for our bulletin board.

We did "Jump Jim, Joe" and "Come and get a smiley face", and "sticky bubble gum" for music today.

Willow Room: Terrific 2's and 3's class

We read "Apple Farmer Annie" by Monica Wellington

We glued paper  "seeds" onto an apple shape.

We painted using paint brushes and primary colors at the easel.

We cut open different size apples - big, medium and small and counted to see if the size of the apple determined the number of seeds inside the apple. We found that the smallest apple had the most seeds. That was a usrprise!

We made applesauce today.  We tasted it at snack, but we will use it when we make apple turnovers next week.

EMaple Room: Thursday class

We read "Elmer and the Rainbow"

We did the October song, and a 5 little pumpkins rhyme- we acted it out

We practiced writing our names, and we did a rhyming activity with picture houses, "which word does the card you are holding rhyme with? bug, bed, snake?)

Willow Room: T/TH class

We read "Mixed up breakfast

We asked the children "What is your favorite farm animal?"

We painted on leaf shape paper with loofa sponges and fall paint colors.

We had dry erase markers and farm animal stencils at the easel.

We did "Good day", "Animals on the farm", and "The Pirate song" for music.

We did an animal rhyme activity, which farm animal name rhymes with this word?

Oak Room-Pre- K class

We read "The shape of me and other stuff" by Dr. Seuss

We did a color graph, what is your favorite color.

We did a page for our all about me book- "What is your favorite color and the children colored with that color in the book.

We did "Toe, leg, knee"
and a chant and action song for music today.

We did an experiment with a regular marker.  The children used a marker to color on a paper towel, then they brushed it with water and the color separates into the colors that make it up.

We did what words start with the letter E?  We practiced writing the letter E on dry erase boards.

Willow Room Terrific 2's and 3's

We read "The little rabbit who liked to say moo" by Jonathan Allen

We painted duck shapes with yellow and brown paint.

At the easel we had paper shaped like pumpkins and the children drew on them with chalk dipped in sugar water (which intensifies the colors).

We did "Your face will surely show it", "5 little ducks went out to play", (we used magnetic ducks shaped props for the song) and we did "Tommy Thumb" for music today.

We did a CD story- "Down by the barn"

We did 2 rhymes today "The bunny with the ears so funny" and "The apple tree rhyme".

We have things on our science table for the children to explore with magnifiers, leaves, bark, acorns, etc.

We have hay and farm animals in our sensory table.

Oak Room- Pre- K class

We read "Even more parts" by Tedd Arnold

 and we listened to a story on a CD "Five little monkeys jumping on the bed" by Eileen Christlow

We sponge painted bodies using special sponges that have various body shapes.

We did Everybody has a face, 5 green and speckled frogs, and Rock and roll body parts for music today.

Oak Room: Pre- K class

We read "The growing story BY Ruth Krauss and the letter E book

We are talking about size.  We weighed and measured the children today.  Then we measured and weighedother things around the room.

We did our journal notebooks on things that start with the letter E.

We did Eensy, Weensy Spider, an Inches rhyme and we did body bingo challenges, a movement activity for music today.

We did our name graph- does your name have the letter E in it?

Maple Room:

We read "The falling leaves and the scarecrow" by Steve Metzger

We made leaf prints using real leaves and water colors. The children painted the leaves with water colors and then pressed a paper down on top to make a print.
We had dab a dot painters and plastic grids to paint on.

We did an opposites puzzle activity, the children were each given a piece of the puzzle and had to find the other person that had the oppoiste piece.

We did brightly colored leaves, and the October song, for music today.

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "The mixed up breakfast"

We asked the children "What is your favorite farm animal?"

We painted leaf shapes with mesh sponges dipped in fall colors of paint.

We had dry erase markers at the easel with farm animal stencils.

We did "Good Day", "Animals on the farm" (tune of wheels on the bus) and "The Pirate song" for music today.

We did an animal rhyme (Can you guess which animal it is?")

Stay and Play:

We mixed powder paint and vinegar and painted with it.  We were surprised that it bubbled. We experimented with color combinations

We did the shape train for music "Come aboard the shape train according to the shape you are holding.

We did Little Cloud Rhyme and "what color airplane is missing"

We read "Danny and the Dinosaur Go to camp" by Syd Hoff
