Trinity Preschool Activities for Monday, September 22, 2014

 Maple room: MWF class

We read "Applesauce season" by Eden Ross Lipson

We had the children each bring in an apple today, and we cut them into small pieces and made applesauce.  We ate it at snack time.

We also did a taste test with red, green, and yellow apples and made a graph of our favorites.  We discussed the graph too.

We sorted apples by color.  

We estimated how many seeds we thought would be inside an apple and then cut into the apple to check.

We had apple stencils at the easel and we used roller brushes to paint over them.

We did the September song, and A P P L E for music today.

Willow Room. M W F class

We read The little mouse and the big red apple" by A H Benjamin

We asked " how are you feeling today?"

We glued tissue paper to an apple shape paper, some children glued the tissue flat and some scrunched it up.

We had two sided easels on a table, one side is dry erase markers, and the other was chalk and erasers.

We did the apple tree felt board rhyme, the sneezing song, and come and join into the game for music time today.

We talked about germs and about coughing into our sleeve.  We did a special activity to show how germs spread from one persons hands to another.  

Oak Room - Pre -K class

We are learning about senses and today we talked about our sense of smell.  We read the book "popcorn" by Frank Asch and we read The Nose" by Al Perkins

We colored popcorn by shaking it in a bag with powder paint.  We glued the colorful popcorn onto paper shaped like a bag of popcorn.

We used a hot air popper and popped a bunch of popcorn that we put in a large tub with scoops, cups, etc.  we also popped some popcorn for snack.

We did 5 little popcorn in a pan, the bear hunt, and the silly dance contest for music today.

Stay and Play:

We read "the very busy day" by Jane chapman

We painted with patterned flip flops that we put on our hands to press on the paper.

We did several apple rhymes for music today.

Oak room pre k class

We read "buzzy's boo boo" by Harriet Ziefert and "at the hospital" by M. Joyce 

We talked about a time we were hurt and needed a bandaid.  Then the children drew a picture of a time they needed a bandaid and we wrote about what happened.  Then we added a bandaid to the picture.

We had sponge tube water colors at the easel.

We did bean bag alphabet rag, and we balanced bean bags in various parts of our bodies.

We also did some body rhymes.

We have dinosaur bones hidden in rice in our sensory table.

We have translucent letters at the light table.

Maple room: MWF 4 year old class

We read "ten apples up on top" by theo lesieg 

We did some apples up on top activities, we stacked bean bags on our heads, we put a number on some blocks and stacked up 10 blocks, and we had a head shape on the magnetic board with apple shapes, the children rolled a dice and put that number of apples up on top.

We read I am an apple, all around the seasons.

We did the September song, a p p l e for music time today.

We made apple sun catchers at art today.  We glued tissue paper onto wax paper and put it into an apple shape frame.

We had apple shapes at the easel with red and green paint.

Willow room: MWF 3 year old class

We read a BIG book today called "quick as a cricket" by Audrey Wood

We did a group art project on large sheets of paper.  We painted with sponges on long handles.

We had stencils with colored pencils and markers at the easel.

We played a color recognition game with honey pots and a bee.  "Which color honey pot is the bee hiding behind?  The children took turns guessing the color to check.

We introduced a number matching game at circle time that will be out on the table for the children to explore.

We did our hands rhyme, the wheels on the bus, hokey pokey, and teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around for music time today.

We played with soapy water in our water table today.

Stay and play:

We read curious George's first day of school by Margaret and H.A. Reys

We used foam brushes to paint over a stencil shape.  Then when we removed the stencil, we had a negative space painting.  Some of the children then used another color paint to paint inside the stencil.

We did two little blackbirds, and doggie, doggie, count my bones, for music today.

Trinity pictures for activities on Wednesday, September 17, 2014

We used sponge foam painters filled with liquid water colors to paint colorful pictures in stay and play today.

We had magnetic gears on the easel in the Willow room, MWF class.

We did an emotions graph in the oak room, as we are talking about "all about me"

In our maple room, MWF class, we are learning about apples, today we baked our own mini apple pies.  We also made a list of what we know about apples.  The list is below, great literacy activity.

Maple room: Thursday enrichment class

We read "what about bear?" And Amelia Bedelias first apple pie" by Suzanne Bloom

We practiced writing our names and we did a ten red apples activity in small group time.  We did a math adding and subtracting with this game.

Oak room:  pre k class

We read " the skeletal system" by Helen frost 

We glued Q-tip cotton swabs onto a body shape to look like bones.

We talked about how many bones are in your body?

We had tooth shape paper and we painted with tooth brushes on it today.

We looked at our hard boiled egg we soaked in cola and saw it had turned brown.  We used a took brush and tooth paste to brush some away.  The egg we soaked in milk is still white.  We talked about healthy drink choices.

We did "healthy habits", "bone rhymes" and "spaghetti legs" for music today.

We looked at x-rays

We have the light table in our room

We did a small group game. Color/ shape bingo

We did a graph of "does your name have the letter b in it?

Willow room:  t/th class terrific 2's & 3's class

We read "hand, hand, fingers, thumb " by Al Perkins

We finger painted with red paint

We had magnetic gears at the easel.

We did "little fish"," tommy thumb", and "wheels on the bus " for music today.

We did a 5 fingers finger play today too.

Maple Room: MWF class

We read "The apple pie Tree" by Zoe Hall

We made mini apple pies and ate them for snack today.

We had tree shapes at the easel and used corks to make "apples" for the trees.

We did The September song, If you're happy and you know it,  and The pet store by my house for music today.

We also read "Tap the Magic Tree" book

We set up a "free art table" for the children today.

Willow Room: MWF class

We read "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" by Al Perkins

We asked the children today, "What can you do with your hands?"

We did "Clap, clap your hands (and we used drums) and we did "I like my hat" for music today.

WE did a 5 fingers finger play today.

We fingerpainted with blue paint

We had magnetic gears on the easel today.

Oak Room- Pre-k class

We read "when I am feeling happy" and "When I am feeling sad" by Trace Moroney

We did a picture graph about "how are you feeling today?"

We also read the Letter B book.

We are talking about all about me and today was about emotions.

We worked in our journals today with the letter B.  They practiced writing the letter and drawing pictures that start with the letter B.

We did happy /sad with face cards we have.  The children each hold a face card with a happy face on one side and a sad face on the other side.  Then they use them to show how they would feel if....

We sang "If you are happy and you know it"

We did a science experiment today: We put one hard boiled egg in cola and one in milk/.  We are observing to see what will happen.

Stay & Play:

We read "Dinosaur Pet" by Marc Sedaka

We did sponge tube painting on big sheets of paper.

We did "Moving every day"  and we moved around the room with scarves.
We did "Body Bingo" some movement challenges.

We build a town with blocks and legos.

Oak Room- Pre K class

We read "Ears, Nose, Fingers and Toes- all about you and we read "Just my friend and me by Mercer Mayer

We painted with potato mashers and colorful paint.

We did "Deep in the jungle", "Hands are for clapping" and "5 green and speckled frogs"

We did the letter B mystery bag today- they had to figure out what might be in the bag that starts with the letter B.  Ask your child if they remember.

Willow Room- Terrific 2's and  3's Class

We still are helping the children become acclimated to the  class.

We read "Eyes, Nose, Fingers and Toes" by Judy Hindley today/

We painted on people shapes today with primary colors of paint.

We also had chalk boards and erasers at the easel.

We  did "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, " "Little Fish" and "If you're happy and you know it" for music time today.

We learned a rhyme about hands today.

We had fun playing on the playground today.

Oak room: pre k class

We read "I'm gonna like me" by Jamie lee Curtis

And we read "This is my body" by Mercer Mayer

We made our body shapes to look like us...we looked in a mirror and drew hair or glued on yarn, made our faces, and our clothes.

We did "body rock", "head, shoulders, knees and toes", and a p p l e for music time.

We are learning about the letter B this week.

Maple room: MWF class

We did a felt story called "the little red house". About a house with no windows or doors, but a star inside.....it is an apple.

We did apple printing with red and yellow glitter paint.

We had apples stampers with yellow and green paint at the easel.

We played a number game with apple shapes and a worm hiding behind one of the numbers .

Willow room. MWF class

We read "eyes, nose, fingers, and toes" by Judy hindley

We asked the children today "are you a boy or are you a girl?" For our question 

We decorated boy or girl shape cut outs using yarn, buttons, and pieces of fabric with glue.

We painted with brushes using primary colors of paint at the easel.

We did hands are for clapping, everybody has a face, and head, shoulders, knees and toes for music today.

We learned a rhyme about hands today.
