Powdered paint and brushes dipped in water
We gave the children paint brushes, water, and egg cartons with 4 colors of powdered paint. The instructions for the children were to dip the brush in the water, then in a color of paint, and onto the paper. We like how it looks on black paper.
Dinosaur sand play
After I took this picture, we added a little water to slightly wet the sand. We just put out plastic dinosaurs with sand in tubs. The children had fun with this outside at camp.
Spray bottle painting
We filled small spray bottles with a mixture of liquid water colors and water. We attached large sheets of paper to the fence and let the children spray at the paper. Some kids got really close and some stood back further. The paper got drenched and the "art" did not end up being salvageable for anything, but the process was the focus for this activity. They had great fun, and it was a good fine motor activity too. They also engaged in this as a social activity as several children sprayed paint at the same time. Great summer camp activity.

Funnel stand for sand or water play
This is a cool new piece of equipment we just got. We looked at having someone make one, but found this one at Beckers and it works great. We used it outside in the playground in our sand table and indoors with water. Rice seems to get stuck in the funnels, but I am going to buy another set of funnels and snip off the bottoms so the holes are bigger. We did duct tape it down for water play.
