Trinity Preschool Activities for Friday, March 21, 2014

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "Happy Birthday Moon" by Frank Asch

We asked the children "do you have the letter "O" in your name?

We painted with powdered paint and water.

We used dry erase markers on the easel white board

We did "Cool Bear Hunt", "Little Fish" and "The sleeping Bag chant" for music.

We looked at objects that start with the letter O and talked about the sounds the letter makes.

We made our own pizza today and ate it for snack.

Maple Room: MWF class

We read "Pancakes, Pancakes" by 'Eric Carle

We made pancakes from scratch today and had them for snack.
We had circle shape paper at the easel with paint and circles made from blue and brown paper to be blueberry and chocolate chips on pancakse.

We did "The March song", "shake your sillies out", "I know a chicken ( and used shakers). and Pass the pancake on the spatula.

We did Letter S activities on dry erase boards.
We did an alphabet lady bug matching game, upper case and lower case letters recognition.

Oak Room: Pre- K class

We read "Franklin Plays the game" by Jonathan London

We dipped golf balls in paint and rolled the balls in a giant box back and forth with a partner.

We did "underneath the broomstick" and we did "Happy" (using tambourines)
We did a graph of " What is your favorite sport"

We also thought of words that start with the letter Y

 

Trinity Preschool Activities for Thursday, March 20, 2014

Willow Room- Terrific 2's and 3's class

We read "Put me in the zoo" by Robert Lopshire and Brown Rabbit's shape book by Alan Baker
We asked the children "Are you wearing the color brown?"

We painted number stampers onto a clock shape.
We painted Bear shapes with a white paint and cocoa powder.

We did "Hickory Dickory Dock", "Brown Bear, Brown Bear," and "couch Potato Pokey" for music.

We did the Hickory Dickory Dock rhyme today.
We did a 5 little pizza's rhyme 

We made our own class pizza today from scratch.

Oak Room: Pre- K class

We read "The great fuzz Frenzy" by J Stevens ( a fun story about a tennis ball that ends up in a gopher den and how they explore it)

We dipped tennis balls in paint and rolled them back and forth on a large piece of paper in the bottom of a huge box.

We did "I can dance" and "Here's a little bird" rhyme for music today.

We played a small group game "We matched rhyming objects"
We asked the children "Does your name have the letter Y in it?"

We did an experiment where the children tried to guess which ball we bounced by the sound it made.

Trinity Preschool Activities for Wednesday, March 19, 2014

We had a special guest today from Chicago Swim School who did a fun water safety presentation with the children.

Oak Room: Pre- K class

We read "The Berenstain Bears go out for the team" by Stan and Jan Berenstain and we read "Pigs make me sneeze" 

We did letter Y words and pictures in our journals

We did "Herman the worm" and "Jump up, turn around" 

We did an estimating activity,how many golf balls are in the jar?

Willow Room- MWF class

We read "Hi Pizza Man" by Virginia Walter 

We glued numbers onto a clock shape along with arrows (the clock hands) and a mouse to go with the rhyme "Hickory Dickory Dock"

We used dab a dot markers on a pizza shape at the easel.

We did "Hickory Dickory Dock", "Animal Actions" and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear"for music today.

We thought of words that start with the letter N.  We did a pizza felt rhyme.

Maple Room: MWF class

We read "Hello Red Fox" by Eric Carle

We created our own "complementary" colors pictures.

We talked about the color wheel and what colors are "complimentary" to each other.

We did letter S activities.

Stay & Play: 

We read "It's not easy being a bunny" by Marilyn Sadler

We did a colored bead mosaic.  We spread glue inside a stencil and sprinkled it with mini colored beads.

We did "The Mack Chicken Dance" and "Clap if you can" an action song with fast and slow movements.


Trinity Preschool Activities for Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Oak Room: 

We read "Froggy plays soccer" by Jonathan London and we read "Elephants cannot dance"

The children painted with a ping pong ball in a large clear jug. They rolled it across the table to a partner.  It will make a print on the paper. 

We compared a rubber ball and a frozen rubber ball to see how they bounce.

We did "The Pirate song", "Silly Sally", and "Hands are for clapping" for music today.

Willow Room:  MWF class

We listened to s story on a CD "Mary had a little lamb" by Iza Trapani

We are learning about the color grey and we asked the children "Are you wearing the color grey today?"

we glued cotton balls onto a lamb shape and added google eyes.

We had contact paper across the easel and the children used piece of yarn to stick to it to make pictures.

We did Mary had a little lamb, List of dances, Count and move, and The elephant for music time today.

We did a color bird rhyme and we glued google eyes to our spiders we made last week.

Trinity Preschool Activities for Monday, March 17, 2014

Willow Room: MWF class

We listened to the story on CD of "Mary had a little lamb" by Iza Trapani
We are talking about the letter N this week.  We asked the children today, do you have the letter N in your name?

We made "Mary's lamb" using a shaving cream and glue mixture.
We had contact paper and yarn at the easel.  The children stuck pieces of yarn to the contact paper.

We did Mary had a little lamb, List of dances (Jim Gill), and Count and Move (alphabet Zoo CD) for music today.

We looked at items that begin with the letter N and talked about the letter and the sound it makes.

We did a Pat the Shamrock" rhyme today for St. Patrick's Day.

Maple Room-

We read "The night before St. Patrick's day" by Natasha Wing

We made bubble wrap rainbows.  We covered the table with large bubble wrap and gave the children all the colors of the rainbow to paint.  Then we made prints by pressing paper onto the bubble wrap.

We had shamrock shapes with green dab a dot painters at the easel.

We did the March song, and 5 little shamrocks.

We did letter S activities.

We followed clues around the school that were left by the leprechaun.  We found colored shamrocks that left us clues, like look for the color that is made by mixing red and blue.  After we found the purple color, we got another clue.  We could not find the leprechaun, but when we got back to our room, the clever little fellow had turned over chairs, messed up our toys and left a pot of golden candies in our room.

Oak Room:

We are starting a unit on balls.  Today we read "Froggy plays T-ball" by Jonathan London and we read "Watch me throw the ball!

We painted with a tennis ball that was cut in half.

We did bean bag boogie, hands are for clapping, and 5 little shamrocks for music today.

We rolled various kinds of balls down some ramps to see which goes fastest.
